After being located at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam for many years, the Chair The Church in the Context of the Islam Foundation has been working with the Protestant Theological University (PThU) since September 1, 2023. Professor Bernhard Reitsma has been appointed there as professor of Church and Theology, with a special focus on Islam.
Connected with the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, the PThU investigates the contribution of Scripture, Christian traditions and faith practices to finding meaning, justice and salvation. By nationally and internationally highly qualified research, the PThU seeks for answers to the current and timeless questions that the church, academy and society pose. The theological knowledge and experience are used to inspire and renew church, science and society.
